About Kovenant Kids

Where Faith, Learning, and Fun Come Together

At Kovenant Kids, we believe every child is uniquely created by God with gifts, talents, and a purpose. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment where children are inspired to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically through meaningful learning and engaging experiences.

Located in Mississauga, Ontario, Kovenant Kids offers a variety of programs for children and families, including a part-time unlicensed preschool, Christ-centered summer camps, school break camps, recreational programs, and enrichment activities for children from 2½ to 13 years of age.

Whether children are taking their first steps into early learning or participating in our exciting summer adventures, every program is thoughtfully designed to build confidence, character, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Esther Townsend, Co-Founder and Director of Kovenant Kids

Esther Townsend — Co-Founder & Director

Esther Townsend is the Co-Founder and Director of Kovenant Kids, bringing over 13 years of experience supporting children, young people, and families across early years education, residential childcare, social care, and community services.

Esther holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons), a Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology, and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children's Services. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Criminal Justice, reflecting her commitment to advancing research, leadership, and evidence-based practice that improves outcomes for children and young people.

Throughout her career, Esther has successfully managed and developed children's services, including daycare settings, residential children's homes, residential schools, semi-independent services, and community-based programmes. She has extensive experience establishing new children's services from the ground up, developing high-quality programmes, leading multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and child-centred care.

Esther has worked with some of the most high-risk children and young people in the care system, including those who have experienced trauma, abuse, exploitation, placement instability, emotional and behavioural challenges, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Special Educational Needs (SEN). Her compassionate, trauma-informed approach focuses on building trusting relationships, promoting resilience, and helping every child reach their full potential in safe, nurturing, and inclusive environments.

As a devoted Christian, Esther co-founded Kovenant Kids with her husband with a vision of creating a place where children are loved, valued, and encouraged to flourish academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. She believes that every child is uniquely created by God and deserves opportunities to learn, play, grow in confidence, and discover their God-given purpose.

Beyond her leadership at Kovenant Kids, Esther is passionate about advocating for vulnerable children and young people. Her doctoral research focuses on criminal justice policy, trauma-informed practice, and addressing systemic inequalities affecting disadvantaged youth. She is committed to developing programmes and policies that strengthen families, empower children, and create lasting, positive change within communities.
